yes but vvtLi works the same as vtec vvti is based on the same principle but doesnt give quite the same output

VVTI still gives a good result, you can tell when vvti kicks in

I'm sure diesels are more efficient because there is more Kj of energy per Ml than petrol, less is needed for the same output.
Try working out the distance the piston travels in a minute at 3000rpm.

My bmws stroke is 75mm
3000x2 = 6000 movements (as 1/2 rev is 1 piston stroke)
6000x75 = 450000mm
450000mm = 45000 cm = 450metres a minute
So if you were in a gear usually lower than 4th gear for a minute the piston would travel further than the car :cool;
