Hamish got sent some pictures of the head, its all done and coming back next week. Looks stunning from the pictures, should get that large turbo making boost nice and early:

ADU is a type of cylinder head for the Audi Quattro bit like XE's some have a costcast head.

But Hamish tells me its not an ADU thats from an S2 engine, his is a 3B or something along those lines.

Adu is from an RS2, S2 has an aby, 3b is is form early s2 i believe, still nice work gone into it

Well Hamish and I tipped it on its side the other week so the underside could get some attention:

In primer...





In shiny bright white...





The weld all smoothed out...





It is now back on its trolley and read for all the panels to be fitted!

I take it the head is being wire rung?

Who decided on the position of the grooves?

Hamish was reading the topic earlier and asked me to reply....

The head isn't being wire rung, the machining is for extra waterways to help prevent any head warping under extreme stress.

I was going to say if it was wire ringing, it would have been a major issue with it going through the waterways lol.

Hamish' head landed back on Thursday after a 10 month holiday in warmer climates down south

Inlets:




Exhausts:






Some wild cams:


Exotic valves:




Wagner inlet manifold port matched:






And with the head and 7A cam cover:




The rear tie rods and rose joints also landed on Thursday.
They are the last bits he needed to put the car back on its wheels when it returns. Also refurbished the steering rack and arms, they are also fitted with rose jointed ends. He might however change the arms to brand new ones with rose joints on either ends so he can do away with the factory left and right threaded section that he cant get from Audi without buying the whole bar!

Will be alot of progress updates during August, Hamish has booked two weeks off work to get stuck into it!

There are some bodywork progress pictures, but he has asked me to wait until they are all available to post in one go, so watch this space.

Shell is coming home on the 15th / 16th Aug so progress will commence the week after, when Hamish is off for two weeks soley to work on the Quattro.

I seen it on Friday and its looking very good, almost complete.
