by 'it worked' I mean I've actually matched a facebook profile to a CV. Not rejected their CV because of their facebook.

We have hired people who's personal lives have conflicted with their professional lives. We didn't sack them because of it, they left for their own reasons.

No, what effects my opinion is when they come into the interview and i find out
a) they aren't technically fit for the job
b) their timescales don't fit mine
c) they cant preach half of the stuff in their CV (certification junkies)

End of the days everyones personal life can affect their work if they have problems at home but just because somneone has a facebook account doesnt mean thye are any less likely to be susceptible to personal problems than someone without
That said, Id probably do the same if i was hiring but then im a nosey bugger

Also Robbo you do have a valid point that you can get wasted on the weekend/evenings without it bothering your work but not alot of people are strong like you.

Then thats fine but a lot of people will be subconsciously affected by having seen a picture/video of said candidate with their head down the loo vomiting for england on their facebook
After all, most pics on FB are ones wher epeople are drunk... or is that just me

I'm nosey by nature, if you publish information for the whole internet to see then expect someone to look at it, even the people you could be working with.
