Which is totally invalid in a debate about moving out of your parents home and getting your first home.

You seem to have some "mircale" mortgage deal though Aaron so not sure you can compare..

I still however think you are talking out of your arse: why is it so hard to tell us how much you put down and how much the house cost? Its not like we're all going to go out and steal your identity with some magic numbers..

£330/month on a repayment mortgage even if you were talking a 35 year term would either be buying you a shoebox in Godamnistan or you/daddy/mummy put down a MASSIVE deposit.

Or he got the timing right and made a sensible buy?

2 bed / 2 bathroom, city centre, about double the size of neighbouring buildings' flats, repayment, £15k/10%ish deposit, £343 a month.

Wouldnt say that fits either of your criteria.

Lets look at the facts..

1) The market peaked in 2007...
2) The average interest rate was between 4.75 and 5.00 % that year..

Or you could move out and fend for yourself like a respectable grown up adult instead of being selfish having mummy look after you so you can spend silly amounts of money on fuel and blind people with aftermarket HIDS in your Subaru Impreza.

£750 is expensive if you earn £1000 a month.

£750 a month is cheap (ish) if you earn £2k a month.

How much equity do you have?

We're talking about people moving out from their parents.. i.e. not a lot of capital.

I have no equity, been renting last few years. It's not shared ownership, not paying rent too, only paying 10% deposit

My maw did absolutely everything for me before I moved out. I'd come home from a nightshift to her cleaning my room at 7am. I didn't actually ask her to do all that, and she STILL phones me asking if I need any shopping or washing done etc. Begs me to come home too I'm guessing Barnshaw's maw is the same. Sorry our mums actually care about us.

House prices, employment circumstances and cost of living depending on where you are in the country is a factor too.

Yeah read it back and it sounds 'harsher' than was intended.

I'm just trying to get across what life is like outside the bubble some people on here seem to be living in. They do the math and realise it costs a shit load and decide its easier to just stay at home, well yeah no shit sherlock. Fair play want to stay in there for as long as possible though.
