My theory is there was an electrical fire/ major failure in the comms system then they carried on but the chinese shot it down as it was unidentified and now they are covering it up

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Now sure if anyone agrees, but it seems that the media are making this out to be a bit of a competition between nations as to who can find the first piece of confirmed wreckage. Not a bad thing to compete over i suppose though

China look to be winning that race now. No confirmation it's actual plane debris though yet.

There's no way China would simply shoot down a passenger plane and try to cover it up

yeah you're right. i'm sure the RAAF and marine experts don't have a fucking clue compared to a bloke on the internet.

Listen you dumbfuck, I will be shoving nothing up my arse at all. Remember that airfrance plane that went down. It took them 2 years to find the black box on that one and due to there being no suspicious circumstances they pretty much had the impact site determined within days. This potential search area is exponentially bigger than the airfrance one and the radar was switched off by the pilot/someone. 2weeks is fuck all time when you look at the possible area they have to contend with.

I think we can safely say in summary - No-one has a clue where it is.

Even if the US had been spying and did know they would have leaked it by now.

I think in the media it's being slightly lost at the sheer and utter tragedy of all those people on board. Think many need to think about that.

Dread to actually think what the families are going through.

Yes, I said that earlier fred, keep up chap.

Not confirmed it's the same debris of course, and china's satellite picture was taken days ago.

Press conference at 2pm

SMS been sent out to families

"Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived. As you will hear in the next hour from Malaysia's Prime Minister, we must now accept all evidence suggests the plane went down in the Southern Indian Ocean."

They must have found something?

Nice bit of closure for the families I guess, but still needs to be found.

Unless they've confirmed that the debris is the plane? Although I thought they hadn't picked it up yet?

No debris found, they are just going off some radar company from the UK ona last known signal given off the plane. Why wasn't this released days ago....

Plus in the SMS they say "we have to assume" which suggests they still have no idea but have either given up or are covering something up.

They still need to fathom whether it was a failed hijack/suicide by the pilot or something wrong with the plane.

If they can't find wreckage then they won't find a black box.
