No need, I doubt Kyle thinks it's the best hot hatch ever. But yeah, I would've test drove a Fiesta, unless you had to get the Corsa for a specific reason.

I wanted a Fiesta tbh
The cost of the corsa just made it a no brainer, we already had a 62 plate Corsa 1.2 which she's got bored of, so we went to Vauxhall to try out the new 1.0 turbo.
Things she was bored of:
- very basic spec on the old car, not even USB aux input
- engine very weak, she's no racedriver but overtaking even a lorry in less than a mile of open carraigeway was quite scary
- it stank of cat piss after we took the cat to the vet in it and she went mental.
We wanted to try the 1.0 in an energy spec, as it came with all the infotainment stuff and the interior was a much nicer place to be.
We ended up qualifying for the Vauxhall partner scheme thing which gave us the following options, all assuming we chop the old Corsa in and they pay off the outstanding finance on it (it's pretty much worth what we owe, thanks to 0% finance we took on it).
- "Buy" a 1.0 energy with metallic paint and pay over 5 years
- Keep the current car ticking over for two more years, then its ours and stops costing us repayments
- Lease a VXR with the bigger alloys and metallic paint for 2 years
Those three options all conveniently came in at the same monthly repayment cost. We could have actually "saved" money each month on the VXR if we could be sure we'd do only 5k per year in it, but she's done 21k in three so we upped the mileage which brought the price up.
After test driving the VXR after the 1.0 turbo, the car didn't feel particularly compromised on ride quality - it felt fine, and the interior had all the goodies that the 1.0 Energy had. The VXR looks nicer (than the energy) and sounds nicer too.
She's an aesthetics tart, but after she drove the VXR for a bit she fell for it completely over the 1.0 turbo car.
Its only downsides to us is ofc the fuel economy over the 1.0 turbo but it's acceptable for the mileage we do.
One of the key things that made the VXR a bit of a no brainer vs other lease deals we looked at is that they only wanted one month deposit too. I'm sure if we looked hard enough we could have found a competetive lease deal on a Fiesta ST - but the Corsa really didn't offend us enough to find reasons NOT to go with one, actually surprised me in a few areas (refinement and comfort).

Perhaps, googling around suggests that the benchmark cost for the Fiesta is higher.
We also didn't go for the performance pack that I believe you (Steve) picked up. Brembos and LSD is wasted on the missus, but if I felt the need to get something newer and park up the Subaru for a bit... I really wouldn't rule out his and hers' Corsas

Hmmm had a call from Vauxhall tonight, they apparently can't get a VXR anywhere with the bigger wheel option 
Seems a bit weird, they're not even giving us the option to just wait for a while until they can source one.
Going to phone another Vauxhall franchise tomorrow to see if they're all limited by the same stock issues, I imagine so - but worth a try.
