we pulled out 1 old fireplace, but have it kept....

The only room thats received a bit of modernising is the master bedroom, but it had been butchered of old stuff back in the 70's i think. We're actually making it more 'traditional' with high skirtings etc, oak doors and a stove

i've always found that with things like this, if you do it fancy it will soon look dated. i'd go for the first option.

just browsed all 14 pages, absolutely stunning you've really transformed it, the valuation must of gone through the roof!

Is it a 2 floor house? I haven't seen any stairs yet!

You two earn to much money (granted you work hard for it though!)

going to go for a half tile along the front (straight/square) .... then diagonals/diamond back from that.

That chimeny is getting swept tomorrow, and all chimeny haunchings repaired soon. Need to phone a blacksmith to make a metal plate for the chimeny/stove

its just a single floor flat.

Was 2 bed and two receptions rooms, bathroom and kitchen. We have changed it slightly to make the old master bedroom a kitchen, and the old winter day room as a master bedroom. The old kitchen is now an ensuite.

Jesus thats a massive flat then, thats really good.
Are there any people above you in the next floor flat as the ceilings seem quite high, so must be one tall building!

3 storeys high.... flat above is double, and 5 bedrooms. We want to buy it, but its being rented out to Fugro just now for 2k a month, so I dont think the owner will be wanting to sell seeing as he paid feckall for it in 2005!!

Built in 1905 i think

red quarry tiles laid... what a bloody hassle trying to get real one! All the places were out of stock, on back order, discontinued!!! The ones i eventually got were a bit bigger than we wanted, we were after 150x150x10, but had to settle for 200x200x12. They were also 'seconds' so were quite 'charterfull' i.e some edges wernt square, some corners chipped etc. Wasted a lot of tiles getting good bits etc, but we bought enough and have a whole box left over.

Been to a blacksmith to see about getting a steel plate made up for the chimeny/stove. 6mm plate with collar for flu and round access hole with plate. 1140mmx320mm - £75'ish quid. Not as cheap as I would have thought, but hey ho. I'll double check measurement and flu position before setting on a plate design.

Some pics.....
