svm, whilst i agree with you almost entirely, i can't seem to think that in america the same would've happened.
not much you can do if you're unaware, with a gun or pepperspray, and a car comes flying towards you.
nothing would've stopped it happening, except if the solider wasn't alone.

They all talk about condemning but what are they doing about it?! As community leaders it is their responsibility to weed out the nutters. They will attend the mosques that they worship in, must talk to people. They KNOW who they are.
Yet do nothing.

Actually Ben, you make a good point about the car, but I was referring to America with regards to the kind of outcome to this incident in a scenario whereby civilians are entitled to carry a firearm.
If witnesses and passers by, all had legally owned hand guns about their person/s, they'd have almost certainly shot this pair dead before they had the time to carry out their second attack.
And in an area where tensions are probably already high, things would more than likely have escalated. Mob rule and all that.
I'd be interested to know if young squaddies would be wandering around, on their own, undefended and wearing tee shirts proclaiming their affiliations, in a muslim-rich sector, near a base or barracks in any part of the states.
