There's still a logic to it. 3 > 4 > 5

3 > 4 > 6 would be weird.

there isnt one called 3 though, its 3G which denotes the technology used which was the 2nd. this is what annoys me the most theyve called it the 5 for this reason, because people dont understand previous names and just keep repeating 5 comes after 4, not 6.

I'm tempted for the first time in 5 years to get a phone contract again, rather than shell out £500 on the phone

3G > 4 > 5. It still works better than jumping to 6.

It's a really geeky thing that the majority of people aren't going to notice or even give a thought to that you are on about

it also all but confirms a 5S, reducing the iphone line essentially to a new phone every 2 years. thats annoying but i can see reduced sales coming off the back of it, people happy to tie into new 2 year contracts for the 5, no one bothering selling 5's a week before the announcements etc. just seems lazy

People stop getting contracts

Buy phones outright and go to giff gaff or simplicity tariffs

I just got a 12 month contract, you end up paying a lot for the phone, but after 12 months you can sell it for not much less than it cost, then use that money to get the new phone...

Giff Gaff are wank. Used them for 3 months before moving back to actual o2. Their top up system was a load of bollocks.

They've called it iPhone 5 for no other reason than it's what the consumer wants/expects it to be called.

I've had no end of trouble trying to top up with GiffGaff but they've since introduced the auto monthly top up and its been fine since I moved to that.

I'll just buy it outright same as I've done for the original iPhone, 3G and iPhone 4 (and no doubt will do for iPhone 6, skipping the 5S).
