I agree with that, there are other cars out there for around £16k and I think the price needs dropping to around 14k to tempt people away from these other cars. Not going to mention other cars but you're only a few k off something faster/bigger/more prestigous.
true but will those other vehicles hold their values?
corsa vxr will be like the astra vxr, will harldy depreciate.
we still selling 2nd hand astra vxrs for nearly 18.5k. not bad for cars that are over 12months old really. residual values will be high on the corsa vxr.

What else could you get brand new for similar money, apart from the other direct rivals. I see what your saying but I don't think people will be paying £16k cash anyway and finance is available to pretty much anyone nowadays.

I'm not sure about the VXR's holding their money actually, it really depends how many are going to be produced. If theres going to be limited numbers like say an Evo then yes, but if its going in to production like an Impreza it will drop then level off at quite an affordable price. Sorry for the examples I used

I would say the styling of such cars are aimed more for the younger generation, I cant see an 80yr old woman buying one, while in the past an 80yr old with a nova GTE would not seem too off the wall
My old man wouldnt buy an astra VXR because he would be classed as a midlife crisis going around in one & also 19" wheels on a mid size hatch back dont appeal to him!! He would own an Audi RS4 though...if he had a spare 50k.
I believe the VXR is directed towards a target audience of 23 - 45 yr olds, id be surprised to see outwidth that age band with one

Every Focus ST I've seen has been driven by someone around 45-50. My Dads mates just got one LOL. Thats the realistic market imo for the Astra and the Corsa falls in to 25-35.

I need to convince my dad that this is the car for him, he hardly uses his brand new 407 and is always harping on about wanting something smaller, this is ideal.
Astra VXR and Corsa VXR on the drive, that would be colourful.

my point is based on the dealing i have face to face with customers. we have a regular customer who has always owned the sportier version of vx's, nova gte,corsa gsi,astra gai mk3,astra sri turbo mk4, and now he has an astra vxr-he is i think just under 60.
even still a target audience of 23-45 isnt IMO boy racery. i dnt think everybody is now as obsesses with image as they used to be. some people think they have a 20k budget-what car can they get for that money. we have plenty of people wanting to buy VXR's, plenty have, and in no way at all can we conclusively say they are all young people. not by a long shot

styling is same cue as meriva,astra,vectra and zafira vxr's-who are they aimed at?

Antoher thing, my Mum is 58, she drives a 1.8 C, Her next car will be a Corsa VXR.
She wants a quick car, and she likes Vauxhall.
Obviously sporty Corsas are aimed at young people though 
My Brother-in-law has an Astra VXR, he is 35, so he fits the age band. My sister, mother of 3, owns a 2.2 Astra G. That's not right, she's 33, should she drive a Meriva just because she has kids? no she has a sporty car.
My brother is 30, he drives a 2.2 Vectra C SRi, which makes him old.
The Corsa VXR will sell to all the people who have a company car budget, but don't want a car as big as an Astra.
I don't understand where people were getting the 'aimed at young' people thing from
The 1.2 SXi is aimed at young people, whih is why it comes with free insurance for over 19s.
How many 19 year olds do you know who can afford a 15k car, and not have money to pay the insurance in one go?
