where was the 12k thrown? in the bin? a proper 12k 1600 would eat a power boxed stock one, even if tbs aren’t necessary on this project...

i just don’t believe it was ‘almost as fast’ tbh having had some decent comparisons to ian searles old powerboxed 16 with all the bells and whistles with my old spec 1600

Honestly, Lee Mannings was the ultimate powerboxed Corsa GSi and the spec was fairly low, everything he had done worked.

ians was the mantzel demo vehicle, had their cams/headwork a btb custom exhaust and manifold and their full live remap thing, 180 bhp, so certainly wasn’t shy, still not a match for a tb engine that made 192 bhp

I wonder if Daimo has any vids or input to this thread, he went out in both and I remember him saying at the time about the difference in money for the difference in speed being not that great.

i went in andys car at the bruntingthorpe corsa vs nova day, after i helped him refit his alternator belt, been in lots of mantzel boxed cars too, and i would say the difference is quite big, possibly not ‘worth the money’ but certainly not what i would call close

yes, the second one, then got sold to ians parents funnily enough! but ians peppermint nova was demo car no.1 hence he didn’t pay for anything!

the corsa sold again recently too, would have been ideal for this project!

i don’t get why the need to rely on daimo? seems pretty simple, 12 k on a 1600 will see you with around 220 bhp, how is a mantzel gonna be close to that?

Are you getting lairy? I'm saying 11k on an extra 1 second to 100mph is a complete waste of money.

no just find it amusing that daimo needs to be here to agree with you, like i said above, it might not be worth the money, and i also agree its not needed on this project, but i disagree with your justification of that point

andys car needed a better gearbox badly when i went in it, to make the most of the power band, always the problem when you go mental on the engine but leave the transmission nearly stock

throttle bodies arent needed for mid spec engine, dont make that much more 'peak power' than one with a decent inlet

but pick up and drive alot better through mid range, dont have to wait for 4k to get going...

but when you start spending 12k on a engine you need throttle bodies to get the air in for the lairy cams and high revs

But your build a inlet will be fine...

I'm going to have Warrens 4.18 FD if I have the removable diff cover which I keep forgetting to check.

Cage, yes deffo but I think I'm going to have to get cams before I take it to JamSport on the 21st.
