So removed the header tank to diagnose the loss of gears
Then decided to wire the fans

Bumper off

Rad and crass bar off (notice cross members a lot better than the black deaths)

Rad is fucking shit though, so got the one off red death - part number for anyone that wants it - fits well

Lined up the fans and test fitted

Drilled a hole - painted - captive nut - bolted

Wired the fans up and and moved the temp sender - all tidied

Made a top mount

All runs as it should - pulls air well - comes on at temp

As you can see ive sprayed primer on the front panel - he had rubbed parts down - its just temp till its sprayed

Tomorrow i will fit the crash bar and bumper, alighn the bonnet, fit arches and bleed brakes

Think a mate will spray the wheels too this week (silver)

So the to do list is big:
Align bonnet - with raisers
Fit kit properly
Get new seats (gsi ones)
Bleed brakes
Paint wheels
Align backbox
New door (drivers)
Colourcode
Mot
Insurance
Tax
Register as 2.0
Timing belt - water pump - full service
Remove interior + plus sound deadenning - fix any holes and underseal full car
Wind deflectors
Pressed plate
Sort a grill
Jacking point covers
Paint brakes
Refit interior
Pikey doors closed respray

Job done - not in that order but want it all done by spring - will be doing black one in between too but this is a priority

Will never be a show car but will be decent and tidy

Ohhh and sort this

And get wind deflectors, ice, and tigra scuttle

Sounds loads but when you figure i get cheap paint its not a lot at all

Guessing you mean pushes air well? If there pull/push reversible wired fans they would have to be mounted on the other side of the rad to be pulling , I'm not being a prick just if there wired to pull and are mounted where you have them they won't have much effect lol

Lol engine seems ok

And yes pushed - we reversed polarity but that made them pull - so swapped back - tested by putting a carrier between rad and block - pushed onto block

Looks like it's solid enough, hopefully it's not hiding any nasty surprises when you pull it apart. Good to see another GSi being saved

Same as mine, think the repair panel was about £20.

Right now bare with me here - did a bit this morning

So noticed that the gsi had no bonnet stay

Not an issue as the black death doesnt need its one

This unvieled where the dings in the bonnet are from

Then was annoyed by how wonky the bonnet was (lights not bolted in obv)

Lined it up and fitted the bonnet raisers

The jacking it up got a nice surprise

Yup nice rear disc axle

Bled the breaks up - well near enough - need some more fluid (need to pop round them all again) they were BAD

Then had a look for rot

This will need welding as im sure all the rubber circles will

Its had a poorly fitted plate here - will re do it

Found this hole and had a poke (no biggy)

Right now the tricky bits

It has been jacked up incorrectly seemingly 100000 times (tom )

Now im confident this can be pulled straight using a sliding hammer/tacking plates on - then cleaned up and re undersealed

But these will be a bit more tricky and are the only "rotten" bit i can find so far

As you can see they look not bad inside: now have some options

Try and source genuine repair panels???? Is this possible? What are they called?

Or

Cut the rot out, weld a strengthenning channel inside - then plate over the top

What do people reckon?

Im not pissed off its doable

And its done a few miles

Its getting fixed for sure - one of the cav turbos needs a new tyre but otherwise my pal is spraying them for £30
