Cammock my 1.6 was pinking due ot the mixture being messed up, that wasnt tuned at all though. i found a pipe to the charcoal canister had come loose but doubt your problem would be the same sorry im no help mate

mine was doing that cammack and it was a bit of tubing that had come loose althouh i still think theres a problem cos when the clutch is down it revs up to about 2.5 then drops to under 1

erm not too sure, possibly adjusting valve timing, but i would get it compression tested and see what they sugest, make sure you tell them its been pinking though

mine doesnt rev up..... just down down down.. til it cuts out pretty much! any toher offers ppl? possibly crankshaft sensor??

I had the same thing lou

Revs should stay under 1 when idling but the going up to 2.5 is a bit naughty.

so is pinking really bad?? small explanation of why? im not sure if the pinkin and cutting out is linked though!

yep all 4 fire very well indeed! it pulls very well, and drives fine, apart from the pinking, and this cutting out!

Pinking can be bad if its long term mate, as the mixture is wrong and the noice is the engine internals iirc ill check hang on.

its about pressure above the piston and when inverse pressure meets the pressure from the valve, the two pressurised areas push fuel onto the top of the cylinder and when it ignites it can and has blown chunks out of the piston, ie yes

otherwise it just shakes the piston about in the cylinder potentially scoring the bore
