I wouldn't fit Kent SBD one however. They break my OEM tensioner and almost 16 valves where bent. Better use Dbilas valve springs.

No you dont, his cams clear on the standard pistons......
People have run NEwmann 288 deg cams with around 10.6mm lift on the standard valve train without problems

Good stuff Warren, nice to the see the MS came good in the end.
Shame it didn't last too long
Is power starting to fall away at the limiter or still rising? Cant see the rr graph pic on my pc for some reason

That is because they don't like to rev hard
I destroyed 1 standard piston at 7200 rpm chasing a friend for some time.
The standard springs were old and had lost tension so even with standard cams you can wreck an entire head

So you increase valve lift another 2mm and nothing bad happens?

Good luck

what do you mean not liking to rev hard?

i ran newman 288 cams on standard rods/pistons/valves/springs/everything really other than arp rod bolts and pockets in the std pistons.

reving to 8500 was no problem on a daily basis producing 192bhp on gotech.

the only time we had an issue with the engine was with a tacho recall of 9200rpms (cole trickle) beating a subaru and passing 8 or 9 cossies round donnington, then we had valve problems as a piston detached itself from the conrod.......

You were unlucky then.
The standard bottom engine(bar ARP rod bolts and steel cambelt rollers) can rev SAFELY to 7750rpm without any issues at all.

OLD VALVE SPRIMGS LOOSE TENSION
Due to valve flutuation the valve hit the piston and that's it

Now I use Kent upper retainers, new valve springs and pocketed pistons.
Best to be on the safe side of things

sying more compression makes power isnt strictly true, the required engine compressin ratio depends massively on spec and RPM that it will be using.
