The 12.90 three plan would be good for me if they do unlimited LTE.

Three always have attractive tariffs but I'm put off by coverage. So far O2 has been the only one to work reliably at home.

Been fine with me. When I upgraded to my Nexus 4 I asked them to match a deal I found online and without any proof they beat it and gave me a 16gb one. I had the phone within a few days too.

If you can cope speaking to India once every 2 years it's fine.

The phone calls from 3 have pissed me off and I don't get anywhere near as many as the missus does.

Had a text message offering the iphone5 on contract for free and a fairly good deal on the contract, ignored as i'm with them for another year and a bit anyway.

Next day had an indian woman phone me while I was working offering the same deal, I said me and my partner are both with 3 already, she suggested having it as a back-up phone. I politely declined

Second this, they couldn't give my missus the phone she wanted and then couldn't beat the contract she was on so wanted to cancel. Was on the phone to them for an hour literally shouting down the phone I wanted her PAC code and to stop offering me different phones. Was even put through to a "manager" who said if I wanted a PAC code all I had to do was ask, so I did and he said "we are trying to help you, you don't want to save money ?" I told him to do one and hung up. Minutes later she got her code texted to her. Never going to deal with them again !

Sounds about right. When Ive got time I'll write down about my time when I tried cancelling a 3G dongle. Took months. Literally months to end.

Three's 3G is super fast for me, but very spotty so that's when you can get it and their normal phone coverage was not great at all. Defo try a sim out first before locking into a contract as their coverage checker indicated the opposite of what happened to be the case in reality.

I was sat next to a mate as he tried to cancel his Three contract, it was like a comedy sketch.

Round and round with "why are you leaving? we can do you this deal!". Mate had the same thing, I was fuming and I wasn't even the one doing the cancelling!

Easy solved, don't leave

In all seriousness though never had a reason to leave, they've always had the best offer or matched what I told them when I've threatened to leave. Been with them about 8 years now.

Still waiting on the 5s.

Would like to see sales figures for the 5C.

If you are on contract, there will be little difference in price over 2 years. If buying outright, you're probably into phones and won't want the lesser specced one, it's not even £100 cheaper anyway.

Only reason to buy one is surely if you want a plastic brightly coloured one?

I don't think the 5C will be a huge success over here either. Same reasons as you've said.

I think the key market for the 5C is China which even if they take 0.01 of the market it will make the UK sales look like childs play.

I had a 3G dongle with Three. First time I called up I couldn't work out how to get the woman to let me cancel. She genuinely had a response to everything I said. I gave up and called back, got through to someone different. Still took me about 30 minutes of trying to convince me to stay but I finally got them to cancel it.

Amazing.

The Chinese market is the biggest they have, and still imo, the coloured versions are aimed primarily at china because they are so traditional around colours and the meanings.

Wasn't the xbox 360 banned in China because it was black? (the PS3 was not banned because it was made in house - a different set of rules).

They should have just released it in China if that's the case and left us with a reduced 5 and 5S as normal.

Samsungs next flagship phones to feature 64bit chips...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24060694

Yeah that's great but what about Android and all the apps?

Apple are going to see Android's fragmentation as a massive advantage here.

Come on Ash, you know Android users worry more about hardware figures than how well the hardware is actually utilised.

Makes little difference as everything (well, majority of applications) run within Dalvik.

As for fragmentation, Google are slowly changing that (hence you'll find, once where, core apps like the keyboard being separated from the core). Plus the rumoured plan with KitKat is to get it on as many devices as possible and there's talk of them separating out Network/Manufacturer customisation from Android's core - so essentially, Network/Manufacturer's will just throw a 'skin' on top of Android and Google will take control of keeping Android updated.
Few worthy articles on this - Arstechnica - Balky carriers and slow OEMs step aside: Google is defragging Android, Hot Hardware - Google Play Services Aims To Help Android Fragmentation.

Also a decent article on The Register about Apple's 64bit upgrade, also worth reading the comments as there's a lot of info on the pros and cons as well as talk of Android going 64bit - http://forums.theregister.co.uk/forum/1/2013/09/12/apple_64_bit_iphone_pros_and_cons/
