you are doing it the right way but i hate doing bare metal resprays as its a hell of alot of work!

wish i had the time on my kadett and space do to that with it but its just not going to happen and also i would find big holes and i know its got alot of filler in it!

good luck though!

Yes, theoretically the car should be finished this year. Otherwise I will sell it in parts because it's silly... (I won't sell it)

Bare metal spray jobs are really cool. Though they cost a lot to do and they take a lot of time. I think it's worth it though as a lot of the paint came off with just my blow gun

Primer now? Tomorrow? Some time soon on the shell. The other parts need some more work. Then the colour needs to go down once I have stripped out the engine bay. Will probably be in colour in March or April.

just finished priming it. looks excellent. i used a wet on wet primer which is a thin primer usually put over a panel and then painted straight over the top before it has dried.it has etch properties in it so is good for bare metal work as it doesn't need to cover repairs and dries shiney so yoou can see any imperfections or dents which are hard to see when its bare metal.
i shall sort out all the dents and reblock the filler work so it is even better and then high build primer over the repaired areas block down and then colour up. hope that made sense,
heres the pics

lightly etched primed last night

first coat of primer over repairs only

then fully primed
