The HD and SE are the same apart from the SE has a colour screen on the front and is slightly quicker (apparently). Mines in a cupboard anyway so cant seen the colour screen lol. Not worth the extra in my eyes.

Are we talking about proper Dreamboxes here for these prices?

Course not lol. I think real ones are mega bucks. The copy ones are pretty good though, had mine almost a year and its never gone wrong. All the parts are easily replaceable too so if the worst happened you buy a part to click in instead of a new box.

What boxes do people recommend?
I want an EPG and the option to record in future (add in a hard drive).
My wireless connection is up and down like a yoyo due to there being more than 10 wireless connections with decent signal. Will have to go hard wired.

Well you've got lots in the thread to go off. Openbox if you're cheap, which bang for buck works great minus the EPG. If you want an EPG then you're going to have to look at a more expensive box, Dreambox, vu+, something like that. I'd been led to believe the clones were shite and broke easily, but reecemac has since stated otherwise. I was interested in John's box, but I was still apprehensive about paying £200 more for what is basically an EPG. If Reecemac is right and the clones are cool, then you can get a snide dreambox for just over £100, which would allow for an EPG and do what you're after. Couldn't say if the more expensive boxes have wifi, but the OpenBoxes are wired only anyway.

I mean the only thing about the copies are that quality could vary depending on the seller but my personal one has been perfect.

Does it still say dreambox on it tho? Others I've seen are called the same model names but with a different manufacturer, unless that's just how they're advertised for copyright issues.

Why not just buy a dreambox?

Cause clones are a third of the price.

Popped out to get another box from my china man for a friend today. Turns out he's got updated versions now, X3's rather than the S11. These new ones do 1080p, wifi (with usb) and just look a hell of a lot better. Menus are much much nicer too. Has apps installed like YouTube and weather. EPG also seems better than my previous S11 although it only loads up the now and next for each channel. Needless to say I switched them round and reboxed my S11 as new

It's still the same as the other openbox really with regard to arrangement. It's just a bit more polished than it was before and seems to work smoother.

What did this cost you Brett?
My Sky package costs me £30ish a month which includes everything apart from movies.
Not sure if it worth shelling out for a box and have the mrs moaning at me because things don't work.

£30ish a month can't include everything apart from movies surely? I've just checked now and what I get is £87.75 from Sky.
OpenBoxes are £40-70 depending where you get them.
