Doing the great north bike ride at the end of August which is mainly on tarmac and wondered if someone could recommend a set of tyres for my mountain bikes wheels that are suitable for for road use?

Only need a rear derailleur, shifters and 10 speed cassette then to upgrade the spesh I think?
edit: and just won a 105 rear derailleur, better stop spending this month now!

Yeah I have it, I think I need to change my gearing to beat some of the other riders on a local sprint.

Already got a Specialized Hardrock Pro (which has a few mods) - that I use in Swinley forest...

but, I find it's quite a lot of 'effort' for me to go cycle to the forest, then cycle to the 'good parts', then ride the good sections etc - and I wanted something a bit more convenient as a more regular cardio work out.

So since I've screwed my knee up running, I've just bought a Specialized Allez Sport to try a bit of road riding.

I know it's an entry level bike, but there's a chance I'm going to get bored of it quite quickly - so didn't want to spunk a fortune on a carbon frame s-works etc lol.

Nothing wrong with the allez sport for a first road bike, its a model up from mine and the only bad thing about mine I personally find is the shimano 2300 gearing hence me upgrading parts.

Honestly, I wouldn't be seen dead in that. The colour is rank, the material looks poor. Maybe use it as a rag for cleaning the bike but not to wear.

Snob.

I havn't really got any proper biking stuff, wear galvin green tops or under armour usually on the bike. Very comfy stuff, and keeps you cool.
