Car went up to Castle Combe, fault free.

Got parked up at the back of the circuit near a hedge, like so;

Probably got called a Diesel replica or similar, if it was even noticed by anyone atall.

Car got driven back home, fault free.

Car then got put in back into it's tiny garage, and is now awaiting it's MOT, Tax renewal and not long after that, Insurance renewal. Tedious and expensive times ahead. Yay.

Looks lovely. Wheels are epic, not a fan of the wind deflectors though, looks like the windows are melting

So, mostly due to a lack of both time and additional work recently, and a couple of unexpected pay outs this month, I haven't been able to either MOT or Tax the car. So it's now being taken off the road for a bit, until I get some more expendable funds (and time) and once the Monthly VED payments are possible.

Sad times.



In other news though, SORNing the car online was very, very easy!

Time to get this back on the road.

Pulled it out of the Garage yesterday, first time since October. All good, nothing of concern noticed.




Spent a short time swapping the Catalyser back onto the Car this morning.



Then did the basic checks - lights, tyres, screenwash/wipers, seatbelts etc. All good.

Managed to get it into a local MOT Garage this afternoon, which was good considering I called mid-morning.




However, it failed.

NSF Lower Balljoint has excessive play.
Both Front ARB Droplinks are knackered.

The Droplinks were advisories last year, but, I kind of forgot...
The Balljoint is a new issue, and unfortunately, is built into the Arm, so a whole new part is needed.
All of the parts are ordered and due to arrive at the garage on Monday. I am working abroad from Sunday night, so will be leaving the car with them for the week to get it all sorted for me, ready for next weekend.

Normally those "fixed" balljoints are just machine rivetted on, you can drill off the rivets and replace with a seperate ball joint and bolts..usually

Hello fellow vxr owner haha where did you get the decat from? And are your wheels 18s or 19s?

It's not riveted, looks fused/bonded into the Lower Arm unfortunately.

Regal for the Pre-Cat removal downpipe, Custom for the Main Cat removal mod.

My wheels are 19"

All done, back on the road.

Picked it up yesterday, then diectly went and Taxed it (New Dirct Debit is good - ~£42 per month rather than a painful ~£500 lump sum)

Used it today for an 80 mile jaunt, in crap weather. It's now minging. Ha.



Oh, you may notice thw Wind Deflectors are gone. Wasn't sold on them atall, so off they came. They won't be going back on...

In a week or two, when I next have free time, the Decat will be going back on, along with maybe a couple ofother Exhaust modifications to up the noise a tad more...

Bought some cheeky bits... And went out in the cold (after returning from 11days in the Desert...) to play with them.

Random Steel things;




Backed the car to the garage, on the flat, ready to lift up. (Actually a reused photo from after I finished here);




Whipped off the Tailpipe Trims;




What was left;




Have a look down the actual Tailpipe - backbox Baffles exposed;




Insert received metal items;




Give them a little tap to make sure they are nicely seated, and now look inside again - no more exposed Baffles;




Refit Tailpipe trims, level off and tighten. Put car back on the ground;





Finished.

I also went out and bought a new Jack today - far greater lifting range, so working on the car is much, much easier!

I've refitted the Decat and these Bypass tubes and faffed about all in less than 2hrs.


Oh, and as a result of all this, the Exhaust is now Straight through. I haven't tried it yet though!

Must have a massive flywheel on them it revs down really slowly.
I like the noise but it would be too loud for me.
