Yeah but putting down only 10% is litterally flushing money down the toilet fpr the sake of "not renting", it will cots you substancially more over the period of the your mortgage over renting and saving for a more financially viable mortgage with a better deposit a few years down the line. Getting into a property wth the bare minimum of a deposit is just not thinking stright IMO

its wasn't a great postcode area but it was the best part of that area, close motorway access aswell if that makes a difference

i only rent because i cant afford to put a deposit down on a house and i never will if i keep renting, stuck in a rut in that sense

How can you not afford to put a deposit down if houses are £35k That's a £3.5k deposit. I've spent more than that on furniture

low income mate, every penny is accounted for. my rents about 400 pcm but i get help/benefits for being on a low income.
im stuck in a vicious circle trust me
work my backside off in the 16hours i do and eveyone says i should have more hours... asda dont like giving out big contracts though... im working on it trust me

How many times do you mention this house?
It will be without a doubt a shit hole in a shit area

serious though, the area doesnt have a great name for itself but rite up the top of the hill out the way of were all the kids hang around the shop is a quiet area with reasonable semi's. this one has had an extention built on hence the 4th bedroom etc... but it really was a decent house, i think it was up for around the 60k mark when it first went up forsale but its dropped and dropped as they wanted rid quick

google map search west cornforth, durham, look at the main street then work your way up the hill, you will see for yourself they aint half bad the further up you gan. and this was rite at the top end

I disagree, there are more variables to it than that, nowhere near so clear cut.

Well what if by renting you are never able to save enough to buy? So you go with a 10% deposit and mortgage instead and get on the property ladder.

ok at the end of the day, renting is dead money in that you aren't actually owning anything or getting any equity in anything.

who's to say in 3-5 years time, house prices could shoot up? no one knows for sure.

rather have peace of mind anyway rather than living in someone elses house and paying their mortgage/giving them a good life.

that is it.

how could i pay £900 a month rent + plus bills (say £1500 all in) and still save up enough to get a 30k+ deposit?
