Thats assuming that you let Rooney go for nowt, which you wouldnt (although right enough i dont know how many years he had left but i assume at least 2)

If you flogged Rooney off to Chelsea for £30m or something, then brought in someone just as good for the same or less on less wages, you'd be better off. And not only that you'd have shown to everyone that no player is bigger than the club. Now you're just Rooney's little bitch.

I reckon we'd struggle to get 30m tbh especially with such little time left on his contract

25m at a push id say.

Also getitng him to sign a new contract pushes his short term value up considerably, could sell him next year for a lot more now

Woop.

Don't know enough about Luke Shaw so not sure if he is a good buy. Didn't know anything about Smalling & Jones, and they haven't exactly blown me over.

great prospect and has done very well for Soton but thats all he is at this stage, £22.5m or whatever would be utterly ludicrous! Good time to bring him in now though and have him work with Evra for 18 months, IMO.

Such little time? He had 18 months left on his contract?! Nobody could sign him on a pre for another year. By then he won't be far from 30. He has royally raped United, and as good as he is, there are players out there they could replace him with. Infact, they just have. All they then needed was a good box to box midfielder (the likes of Vidal), and he'd be on half the weekly wages!
I like Rooney. He is undoubtedly a tremendous player, but he isn't on the same plain as the players on those wages.

Rooney will probably get it as his second shirt. He's allowed to do what he wants after all

Tbh, both would be a phenomenal coup for United. I'm a huge fan of Kroos. Amazing range of passing with either foot, and one hell of a strike.
Reus needs no introduction really.

Problem with Rooney is, he needs constant reassurance that he is needed/is doing well and is the golden boy. Which would be fine, but for as long as we have had him he has dips in form which can last for months. Could potentially be a 40 a season player if he was consistent throughout.

I wouldn't be surprised if the transfers clause is just to keep his assured that the club is constantly looking to keep the club on top. The fans find out soon enough through the media anyway.

Dont think Reus will go Utd (said several times he loves Arsenal but not sure we will go in for him what with potential Draxler moves etc.) but Kroos sounds like a go, Bayern say theyll sell him if he doesnt re-sign between now and end of season... cracking player!
