She got to number one in a week that had the lowest combined single sales in decades. The way I see it ITV fixed it so she would win in order to attract interest to their programme as it was losing popularity. Then record bosses rushed out her single so it was released in a week that traditinally has weak sales anyway. If they were that confident in her why not release her single in time for christmas number one.

Thankfully, the decline in single sales seems to show that people have had enough of bland manufactured pop music and poor cover versions, I know I certainly have, I haven't bought a single in years and there is probably no more than five songs in the top forty that I actually like.
