lol what a nightmare!

i think you need a new tensioner mate, did you say it had happened before aswell? i thought once the tensioner went off once it needed replacing? the little flag pops up to show its been used.

im sure the tensioners are connected to the airbag circuit? shouldnt that go off with the tensioners?

Hmm... I don't believe its anything to do with the tensioners - there's no lights on dash or anything... It didn't really 'go off properly' just in my car, when I drive fast, through twisty bumpy lanes, it pulls tighter - its always done it.

Just the latch on the seat belt release simply aint working

Well I have to goto college tommorrow and only way I can get there is to drive since its a 20-30 min trip.

I've figured out what I'm gonna do, just gonna sit on the bit that goes round your waist and then pull the bit that goes over your chest over my head, so its actually still over my chest and looks like I am wearing a seat belt if a copper see's me driving.

I'm a bit worried about crashing as it'll pretty much = No support, but I'll drive safe...ish. and should be alright - will have a proper chance to look at it on the weekend.

Was fucking funny though

PMSL at the story mate.

I wouldnt go in a car with a dodgy seatbelt, if you do what you are planning above and someone pulls out of a junction infront of you your lower body wont be supported, and your upper body will slide under the belt......Could be very nasty

Yes very nasty indeed.

But could get knocked down by a bus crossing the road... I've basically got no choice, other than scive college - but I got a bollocking for just leaving after first half of a lesson yesterday -

It was just boring, so a load of us went down the pub, then went home not returning for the afternoon lessons. Had to write a letter explaining where we had gone

My mates story was hilarious! Straight out of a harry potter movie or something, flying mooses and magic goats!

take the belt fastner bit to pieces n plug it into the passenger side until its fixed, might be dangerous but i reckon its safer than what ur plannin on doin with no lower support

What about my passengers though?

I take people in the passenger seat quite often, i.e. when we all go down the pub - I'd feel worse if someone in the passenger seat got hurt, than me.

What happens if I brake really hard? am I gonna slide off my seat?

Don't do it mate, Not going to college isn't as bad as crashing and killing yourself/others.

It is seriously a bad idea. How can college have a go at you for this, its a reasonable reason not to go. Take it to Vauxhall first thing and get it sorted

My chair is fully back, or do you mean recline it fully? didn't think about it - think my approach worked better.

I'm not worried about college, I've done that drive so many times - its a pretty straight forward route, very hard to have a accident.

I'll be fine

Long and Boring Version (short version at bottom):

Well - some of you may remember that I did get stuck in my car - and we all found it hilarious picturing me looking like a dick.

but after I took a screw driver to the belt thingy, and found a spring was clogging it all up I thought it was the last I would hear from the dreaded 'getting trapped in car by own seatbelt' saga.

It's been working fine since the last time it locked up and to be honest I had forgotten it even happened.

Though tonight, at reading cruise it happened again .

We all left the halfords car park to head to the majeski one and I was simply trying to warm up my car (heaters on but cold coming through), by ragging my car past Antz1 and co down the dual carriage way in reading, purposely letting it rev high so my hands wern't cold.

Anyway, took one of the roundabouts a bit fast and as the seat belt usually does, it gripped me in my seat.

Pulled into majeski, everyone parking either side and I pressed the button and nothing...

IT HAPPENED AGAIN!

the guys all witnessed me trapped inside my own car. Once again I had to wriggle free, looking like I was a demented kid having a fit in my car, with a auidence of the people getting mc donalds, oh the embarressment hehe.

I tried to release my belt, but it wasn't budging, got a few others to try and antz1 managed to free it.

It worked fine, but then suddenly fell apart - bits kept falling out and in the end I was left with something that didn't work at all.

there were police all over the place since it was a busy cruise and I had no seat belt!

I asked a few people for some string to tie it down, but no luck - in the end I found some dodgy plastic flag thing in a bin - stretched it and managed to tie my seat belt up - didn't feel safe at all...

So now I need a new seat belt thing, so how much do these cost? is it easy to change?

Short Version (long version above):

I got stuck in my car, seatbelt wouldn't unlock - we broke it free, but now it doesn't work - how can I fix it?

Thanks,

Paul J
