still take the V8

evos are comonplace

Auto car dont even rate them

It's fine for circumnavigating the M25 in red leather-clad comfort, but step behind the wheel straight from that BMW and you might just miss the agility that goes AWOL when you combine an ageing chassis design with 1,650kg of metal, glass and plastic. Far and away the Monaro's best suit is its straight-line performance. With 5.7 litres of US-built Chevrolet V8 - borrowed from the Corvette - to propel it, the big coupé is an exhilarating way to travel. With a six-speed manual gearbox it's good for a 0-60mph time of six seconds, although that dismisses the fact that the all-alloy, push-rod, 16-valve V8 needs serious revs to liberate the bulk of its 302bhp.

And looks like someone got the figures wrong

Equally you could say who gives a "Pigs ear" about circuits...race in a straight line...?!

Its not all about feckin curcuit racing... The V8 monster would have bags more tourque and comfort and would give you a good run for yer money on a curcuit as they are Aussie curcuit cars they DO handle mint... not as good as the evo i'm sure but still mint! and what you loose in performance you gain in comfort!

carnt be rassed, just wondered what a new one cost compared with an Evo.

oh and my money would be spent on an Evo with the arguement that how many roads are straight and who wants to go 180mph?

I didn't buy an Evo for the looks, only a saddist would buy a real driver's car for it's looks. The spoiler is needed, not ideal no but who cares when I can corner faster than nearly anything out there. Car jackers will target any performance car regardless of weather it has a big max power spoiler or not. I like looking like a boy racer and I have a small cock so the spoiler makes up for it

*p.s some info in the above statement may not be true*

okay so they are more like 60k but an amazing car for the money

'2003 International Engines of the Year' such as re-profiled camshafts, modified exhaust valves and a larger air intake increase engine output to 360 bhp at 7,900 rpm (from 343 bhp). Couple the engine with the lightweight body and the results are staggering, the M3 CSL covers the sprint from 0-62 mph in just 4.9 seconds. The uprated paddle-shift six-speed Sequential M Gearbox (SMG) is capable of changing gear in just 0.08 seconds giving Formula 1 type performance.

The top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, but holders of a valid racing licence can opt to have the limiter removed for use on racetracks.
