I wouldnt bother with the manifold, i dont like that bit. Im guessing a polished heat shield would look a lot better. I def want balck and red to carry on the general theme of my car, but not sure how yet. Red engine with black spark plug cover is too much red for my liking. MattB already has it the other way round, so it might be nice to be different, although im sure he wont mind too much if i get mine like his

ive given the engine a bit of a clean since then, but havent taken any pix. (Pix were taken the day i picked the car up with the new engine) I think what i am gonna do is get the heat shield polished, and try to hide the manifold. I cant afford a new manifold for a while anyway, so need to do something about it! My mate has built a kit car with C20XE engine, and he told me he is getting his powder coated which is what gave me the idea. I dont know what the process itself actually involves though, but im asuming its heatproof as that is what is generally done to the engines.

got a stainless heat shield, 4-1 manifold that i sprayed silver (proper heat resistant paint) but now had the car resprayed blue. Just bought a rocker cover off ebay, so will be getting this done soon. Im thinking i might get the spark plug cover done the same colour as the car, and the rocker cover done maybe silver again. Any other ideas?

Thats mine at the mo. I'm keeping the top red but chroming the spark plug cover (found a metal one with the opel logo on )
I've been advised against having the whole top chromed because it will get VERY hot and eventually discolour.
Powder coating is a better option than painting because it is a more heavy duty covering. You may be limited to colour chioce but I'm not too sure on that. If you're just going for black then that wont be a problem.
I've also got the Bailey polished header tank fitted now which makes a big difference to the look of the bay

Thats been cromed with a airbrushed plug cover. I really like the original theme of red and silver but all freshly painted etc.
I do like mine though:

I have mine done like this
The black is done in matt black too, didn't like the glossy shine
