They dont need to put up signs if doing a speed check with hend held radar. And they're not governed by the same regs as speed cameras so hiding behind hedges/bus shelters isnt illegal.
As for 80 in a 40, you deserve to lose your license whether you were slowing down or not, you should have been at the speed limit as pass the sign.

Agreed, i undertake buses etc all the time on the Mway, not dangerously i might add. I dont swerve back to the outside lane or anything but carry on the inside lane for a bit before pulling back out to overtake.
You do something illegal and pay the consequences, speed and get caught you cant really complain about hardship

over the continent i think in germany if people go in the fast lane when the other lanes are free then its an offence, this leads to much more considerate driving and less cues

PS if there were no temporary or fixed speed camera signs showing then they cant do anything, its one of the regulations of speed cameras, they have to put up a sign, it has to be on the radio or in the paper a week b4 that they intend to put a spd camera up and they can only do it in areas that have had a certain amount of accidents
you can't use that as a defense Stevey boy.
as for not stopping. claim due to your speed you could not see them

Why on earth did you speed up?

My friend was killed by someone driving too fast.
So yeh .... if u drive to fast and loose ur license for it then fair enough ... but if u drive too fast ... kill someone and loose ur license then imagine how that feels.

So you were already speeding in the 70, but u don't think that's too fast?
Then going into a 40 you just couldn't be bothered to slow down, and you still don't think 80 in a 40 isn't too fast!!?
Why do they let people like you pass driving tests

Yeah, if you were speeding in a 70, why didn't you slow down for the limit that was 30mph LOWER?
And I wonder why my insurance is so high....

bottom line is, doesnt matter if you were "cruise in" at 80, the speed limit is 70 and its there for a reason, you deserve to loose your liecense if you drive too fast and "put your foot down passed cops" when coming to a 40 ?!

Listen to half the liars in this thread. Everybody speeds, I got pulled for doing "upto 75" in a 60 zone and got nothing but a producer. I'm not proud of it but at the end of the day everybody, thats EVERYBODY speeds or has gone over the limit at one time or another. Even the policeman who stopped me said that he's well aware that everyone speeds. I dont consider 80 in a 70 to be a big crime, people always do more than 70 on motorways. I was doing 70mph in the 1st lane today and was getting overtaken numerous times.
However 70 or 80 in a 40 is rather idiotic. 40's are 40's usually because there are houses or schools etc near by. I was speeding on a single carriage road that had no houses or any pedestrian access, maybe why i only got a producer.
