Why is that a proper car?
because its a rear wheel drive coupe from the 80's, ok fair enough its not a GT/E,
it a car enthusiasts type of car, not some fibreglass piece of tat
when you tell someone what car youve got, what are you gonna get more respect for owning, a opel manta, or a 1.2 corsa
of course the above is IMO

did a quick look on the RAC about it...
quote: Manufacturer: Opel
Model: MANTA GT
Body type: 3 door hatchback
Colour: Gold
Fuel type: Petrol
Date manufactured: 31 December 1986
Number of previous owners: 1
Also doing some research on Manta's... for this particular production run (81-87)...
Total Number Produced: 180304
so there not exactly common!

a guy near me i just met recently is building a space frame one, with 400 kit, and a peugeout v6. going on to a holden v8 possibly once it's up and running.
i spent hours reading his project build story. find this really interesting.
18 pages, but worth a read if you've got a while. bit about suspension theory in here too.

there's also a v8 widebody chevette project on this site amongst others.
