most electrical place will sell fuses for old fuse boxesyou could take out the same amp fuse used for something else swap them over to see if it is the fuse that has gone (i assume it is)

They might be the old trip fuses with the red and white dots on them which you just push to reset the fuse....

We don't have a garage, boiler room, pantry or washroom and i've looked in all the cupboards! There is a strange white box thing on way outside but it doesnt contain much more than a couple of wires!

when you get home, take the cover off, There may only be one or two fuses under it one will be the ring main (sockets) and the other should be the lighting, there may be a few for the lighting as it may be split into different circuits for different areas of the house. pull each fuse, and check that the fuse wire is still intact, you will spot if one is blown. take a pic of the fuse when you pull it out any i may be able to help more.

turn power of
take cover off
if they are breakers one will be flicked off, flick it on

if they are old fuses they have a lil window in em see if you can see the wire in the lil window you may see one broken

or take them out 1 by one to check

when you have found the broken one itll have a rating on it 30amp etc go to b&q get some fuse wire change the wire

put fuse back in

put power back on

If All Your Light Are OFF The FUSE Colour Should Be WHITE And It Should Be Rated @ 5-10amps Proberly On A 6amp Breaker As Its An Old Fuse Board.

Make Sure The Main Switch Is OFF. Take Off The Cover And Replace The Fuse Wire With 10amp Fuse Wire.

Bingo

Kerry/Luke,

That is a fairly modern fuse box. My parents have one back at there house around 2 years ago. The house is 12 years old with the original fuse box in but they needed a stair lift putting in due to ill health and they added one of those fuse boxes just for the stair lift as there was not enough room to add another fuse in the original box. It was a cheapest solution than adding a whole new fuse box and adding a second smaller fuse box too.

Hope this helps a little

Everything in the house works when trip switch is on exept the lights!

Someone please help us
