I'm suprised that a ST170 was a close race, my Punto GT beat one easy.

http://www.corrado-vr6.info/background.htm

i read that and believe that over

"my corsa beat one"

i think a lot of view of cars on here are based on races and people who accelerate away from someone for about 100m and think that their car is better.

these aren't proper comparisons of cars

Yes Civic VTi are about the same speed as a 2.0 16v Corsa.

Comes down to the driver between the two.

Different Drive too, with all the power in the civic only accuired at 7,000+RPM.

i almost sure most of the power in a C20XE is alot lower in the RPM Range?

wasted many a Civic Jordan in my GTE...
CRX must be lighter as I raced a mildly tuned one of these, and it was totally even steven up to the ton mark

CTR's driven correctly will pull away from me in the Astra, but if the driver cocks up once... just once... I can stay with it

yea, there is a lack of power when you are out of the vtec range, but i never really minded this as you get used to the car u know when u can downchange etc.. if need to, plus great for town driving and saving on fuel!! I just loved the car, extremely reliable can open her up and give it to her till redline constantly and then stop and she'll just pur and idle perfectly, plus when she's in vtec it's a whole new animal

Yep im with ya on that, its the driver because you will get ued to any car you drive keeping it in the correct rev range to keep it going is the learning curve once you get it its really fun and like you say they will hit the rev limiter i recon whenever you want and the car should be ok.

there are so many variables to limit the cars performance at the time of the 'race' or speed test etc.. it's not worth going into them, the other car could have better tyres for that particular bit of road, one car had a bad camber other didnt etc.. etc..
