Old Rover unit was a 1950s Buick engine the yanks didn't have any use for because it was too small and not powerful enough

Ford lump makes 60 more brake than injected Rover engine and 100 more than carb'd unit and bags more torque, plus it's more refined and efficient so it makes better sense.

Also, MG Rover had already sourced a good supply with the Mustang lump for the mad-arsed supercharged SV and SVR things, so fitting an aspirated version in the ZT was ideal and easier for them.

Yeah, each head has it's own camshaft rather than the old Rover/Buick lump that had one camshaft in the block operating all the valves via push rods.

Do you mean the god awful BMC 4 pot in the MGB or the contemporarily poor K series from the modern MGF and small hatchbacks and saloons?

Of course Ian

I'm a tech mate, wouldn't pay full price for anything.

£15, 208 on the road as opposed to £30,353

Got the original order form with costings and final price incl. tax

Two year old pre face lift model went for 15.5 K on ebay last weekend and a 6 month old 2500 mile 2005 model is on Autotrader for 22K at the mo

Plus am getting nice plate for reasonable money and discounted insurance through sister's mate who is a broker.

Smug count is going through the roof

Yeah but think of the torque steer Stu Worse than a combine harvester on methanol

Plus I can't use the 'scort as a commuter, she doesn't like traffic and gets a bit bolshy and snappy.
Paddle clutch weighs a ton and is like an on/off switch also.

So i'm gonna be like Ari Vatanen in the RAC rally to and from work - 'sideways to victory'

Oh and front garden and drive will be totally RWD when my new shed arrives

The Turbo's hidden in the garage, my dark and shamefull FWD secret

Sorry Jambo, none yet mate, dealer won't release car till she's registered, insured and taxed.

Will get to the dealer when I can and get some and e-mail them to JR so he can post them a.s.a.p.

She's pretty sedate looking, pearlescent British Racing Green and half grey Alcantara half graphite leather with no spoilers and some very plain looking silver 11 spoke rims.

I'll probably get 'em re-finished in satin black in an effort to increase the ominous factor

Dad's car is black with black leather and 'shadow finish' Apex rims - if Darth Vader was a rep

I'll pick her up after work.

Got the pipe & slipper-mobile from Whitehouse in Sidcup mate - trading as Sargeant and Collins (even though they still have Whitehouse signs up) since the Bickley branch closed down - yeah, i'm confused too.

being trained my an accredited rover/mg technician (now training vauxhall technicians) i happen to know these cars are ok but have dung parts, they're very bad for propshaftes going, and various other parts worth large amounts of money, and due to the fact there's no warranty, it could be a pain in the arse
