they are like family members. think about it, 16 years. thats a bloody long time to be with an animal. you create a bond together liek you do with human family members.

^^^ I've not had much loss fortunately in my family, my Mum's Dad died 10 days befor I was born and really its only distant family who have passed away. The closest people were my ex's Dad dying and my mate's brother committed suicide - when we had to have our springer spaniel, Penny, put down because of severe epilepsy at the age of 16 in 1998, I was gutted, I still know it was January4th 1998 and it was horrible, Dad bought her as company for Mum whe n she was pregnant with me, so I literally grew up with her and it was horrible when she went - we're looking after my cousin's springer at the min but the reason we've never had another dog is that Penny was awesome and I don't think we'd be able to replace her Still miss her now and its 12 years on!!
