then you must agree with me, 16v's are far superior
sure, 8v's CAN be quick, but if you have the choice, get a 16v.

16v is good fun, but they fall to pieces easily, I want to have a simular spec to Brosters mate Jim, his engine is excellent.

1.6 8v is more in keeping with the Nova than the 16v.
Which makes sense seen as though its a Nova engine

That would be understandable in the sense it's easier to do an 8v transplant into the nova than a 16v one.....but its already in there!

Suppose what I mean is that the engine is from the same era as the Nova, more original

find an Astra GTE 16v ollie and make a bastard child out of that and your nova
It shall be known as the Nova GTE 16v...
with a black strip across the boot, and the GTE 16v decals from the Astra...
obviously with the 20XE up front
Its such a good idea I think Vauxhall should of made it...!

When I get the suspension uprated I will be replacing springs, shocks, and complete new GM front lower arms/bushes etc.
Can't decide whether to uprate my suspension or brakes first. They're both equally shit!

Firstly, thankyou very much for the kind words
Secondly, the spec of the engine is as follows:
New pistons, ARP rod bolts, main bearings set replaced, new big end bearings. Con-rods have been de-seamed and shot peened. Head and block Chemically cleaned. Head and block skimmed to increase compression to around 11:1. Block has been re-bored to 1650cc. Crankshaft has been reground. B+ head with additional porting and polishing. Piper A13BP300H cam. Black Diamond clutch. Webber twin 40 carburettors with 32mm chokes. Polished trumpets. Two K&N bolt on air filters. Twin throttle linkage. Fuel pressure regulator. NGK Sparkplugs. Magnecor leads. Magnex 4-2-1 manifold with heat wrap. Centre exit 2 1/4" bore, mild steel custom exhaust. F13 gearbox with 4.53 final drive. Quaife ATB Diff. Griffith quick shift gear linkage.
You say you want nothing too mental. I guess it depends what you're definition of mental is, lol. I'm not sure how much more mental I'd like to go. To get any more gains from the engine will cost hundreds if not more.
My car has always had an 8v, hence my reason for sticking with it. Nowadays it's all too easy to stick a 2.0 16v into a Nova. In all honesty it is the cheapest way to get 150bhp in a Nova.
Call it a respect thing if you like, but it's nice knowing that I have a 1.6 8v that can put down quicker times than a standard 2.0 16v. There is the age old argument "you could have spent just as much on a 2.0 and have more power" but that's not the point in my eyes.
Good luck with the rebuild.
Jim.
P.S. For those that are interested, the rest of the spec can be found here:

Would fitting twin 40's mean I would have to get rid of my fuel injection?
