I was pulled by a copper in an area car - he wasn't traffic so didn't know his stuff, so I was able to control him like a bitch.

He told me that my exhaust was illegal as it exceeded the maximum allowed decibel rating.

I made mention of the fact that his car was not fitted with a decibel meter, that one would have to be held directly behind my exhaust at specified revs to test, and that - with all due respect - his opinion, although important and valid due to his position and profession was neither valid as proof or admissable as evidence in court.

I told him there was no maximum allowed decibel rating for the car due to it's age, and that the rule only applied to new; mass produced cars, and that the exhaust system on my car was a bespoke and approved motorsport spec unit that met tight racing circuit decibel legislation which was as strict as that placed on road cars.

He quickly changed the subject, warned me to drive slower, and then got back in his jam sandwich and drove off - too quickly.

I thank you

I wish i'd got it on tape.

It was one of those all too rare golden moments.

I could have wet myself with joy.

Was positively glowing when I stepped back into my car and burst out laughing when questioned by my mates as to why I was looking so smug after a pull.

There's a loophole which states if your car can cover acertain distance (in which the decibels are recorded) under a certain time, it becomes pretty much exempt from the noise regs, or at least is given leeway. That's how the Sagarris gets away with being so damn noisy as it's f-ing quick.

Don't leave the car unattended while running, thats illegal and also makes it very easy to steal the car.

Tis called quitting apparently. Police tried doing me for it at MK cruise in C13. So I turned it off with my keyfob in my jacket

I'm not a fan of really loud exhausts as I don't see the need for it , but aye that must be annoying.

They dont come out and complain at the noise of the bin lorry etc though ?
