Damn, then you only have 1000bhp... TBH, running that much power your fuel tank would probably empty at the same speed

Not oxygen but Air - which is made up of different elements...air gives a natural test under normal conditions.

By injecting N20 you are using a far more volatile gas & therefore not under normal everyday conditions.

That's the way I see it....but hey great times

How can a gas be volatile? It's already a gas.

Well we are discussing petrol engines here......petrol & air is what is required for it to work. N20 is introducing something extra

Erm, Mean more combustible - producing more energy…whatever the right word is

I think NOS became gay with FATF films...

In my opinion, on a stock car it is kinda cheating. But if you've modded every other part, i.e. have a running cams, TB's etc. Then why not do the next step - especially if the people your racing against are.

no its not. Air has about 70% odd of nitrogen and around 20% oxygen in anyway. All you are doing with N2O is injecting more concentrated 'air' essentially. Theres nothing else in it compared to normal air....

That's not even how N2O works. If you put a naked flame to a jet of the stuff it wouldn't burn. Basically it cools the air going into the engine, then, when compressed and heated the bonds between the Nitrogen and Oxygen molecules break down giving an increase in the number of Oxygen molecules in the combustion chamber. Basic GCSE chemestry, collision theory, blah blah blah... Power increase.

...you beat me to it.

People seem to think it's some magical gas without thinking what it's really made of. Oh and if you're wondering why people associate green flames with N2O, it's only because combustion in the presence of high amounts of Nitrogen (which is inert anyway), will give a greenish flame.

N2O has vastly different characteristics than air!!

I was talking about the compostion of both gases, not their characteristics. As ed has said, all you are doing is injecting more oxygen into the cylinders and cooling temperatures, nothing else...

Also you can't just go putting a huge shot of nitrous onto a small engine, without uprating the internals anyway,
