1.6 16v was just like updating the old to the new imo. Who gives a fuck about bits going wrong if he can afford a respray for no apparent reason

1.6 8v fully rebuilt by Mr Mitchells own hands, its a engine thats been sat around for year, it started up the oil light went straight out, Lee said that engines that have been sat around for that amount of time tend to have low oil pressure, not the E16SE

Anyway, the E16SE was 100bhp, it done 0-60 in 9 seconds and has a top speed of 117mph in the GTE/GSi.

Over winter I'll tune it up with a cam and exhaust manifold.

Read Total Vauxhall this month, they have a excellent article on tuning 8v's and the benefit they offer. X16XE has to many sensors and to many things that can go wrong, the E16SE is a safe engine so if the cambelt goes its just a case of whipping a new belt on, no bent valves no engine rebuilds, no fancy pancy sensors that do nothing other than hinder the cars performance and cost money to replace.

I prefer old school, I remember driving a 1.6 8v Nova GSi about 5 years ago, it was so so nippy due to low down power of the 8v, was much more fun to drive around town.

Anyway, respray is going to be done. It doesn't need to be, I just want to have it done so I am 110% satisfied with the car.

What was the spec of the 1.6 8v engine?

Ironically 8v's are far less common in modified Novas than XE's (be it small block or big block).

No problems what so ever mate. Runs fine and it has no problems with jerkyness like what other people have complained about.
