5. 8v is lighter.
6. 8v is cheaper
7. 8v is sounds better
8. the fumes
9. engine bay cleanliness
10. no need for a 9million rpm rev limit

6- 8v has less power

7- 16v can handle the revs so whats the problem

8- 8v is small and belongs in a nova

9- need i go on

how much better does jims car look compared to mine... different car, different engine bay different engine....... his engine bay would look hot with a 1.6 16v like dh dev's engine bay....

plenty of pros yes but plenty of cons too

couple of things from sbd-
-You need to change your fuel pumps and fuel lines.
-but then you take the car to the rolling road and spend £200 on jets and chokes and then you find out that actually your carbs' are worn.

Im with broster on this one. Ive had carbs before on a 1.6 8v xr2. they were annoying and fiddly. might as well fit a steam engine

Think its all about 8v, the engines are torque-ier generally, think you should have gone with a 2.0 8v though.

1. this is true but more work on fuel system needed
2. no one of mapping this is true but regular maintenance and balancing/setting up

4. is this about looks or performance?
5. by how much?
6. yes and older and more tired and probably less economical

8. are fumes a good thing? a car isn't quick if the drivers is ko'd
9. Where does cleanliness come into tuning? A single carb would be cleaner. in fact no engine at all would be well impressive just fit some wheel chair motors inside the wheels.
10. is there a problem with a 9k rev limit? If both were limited to 6k i bet the 16v would still produce more power.
