SHould see what the New Zealand boys do to thier Civics to make them accelerate. 10" wide front wheels on slicks, wheelie bars and no back suspension. The take off when they launch, it's impressive

But quarter mile is generally just a power fest, look at all the fast 1/4 mile FWD cars, they're all turbo's and/or NOS. I think a 0-60 time demonstrates how well the car works as a package i.e traction and power.
Already happy with my 1/4 time anyway (13.8)

I wouldnt trust the timimg gear at Trax anyway, its notorious for being inaccurate! That 5.36 is a crackin 0-60 tho, where was that and what timing gear were you on?

It was done at the French Car Show (went there to put the cat amongst the pidgeons ) at Bruntingthorpe in 2005. The event was timed by a company called HS sports ( www.theresults.co.uk ) Don't know what the timing gear is that they use tho

Imanaged a 4.73 on the same equipment, doing first gear launches. Reckon if I'd dare do some second gear ones could of shaved a small bit more off. A lot of standard-ish Evo's/Scoobs were getting low 5's.
I'd say it was accurate as they say an LSD knocks about 0.5 off, and on Datron at Brunters I got a 5.36 without the diff.

Thats a great time for a FWD. Ive always used the Datron gear, it seems to be about the best.
How many attempts was the 4.73 and what was the 100 time?

I dont see any reason why it wont do a sub 5 second, my 1.6 8v nova with very similar power does a 5 easy.

Loads of attempts at the 4.73. Was on a 1/4 mile day, and they gave you your 0-60 too.
I had a brand new set of A539's on.
I based the accuracy of the equipment on how cars that I knew what they should be getting were getting. Seemed OK, but I'd trust Datron more.

Its time to let the excuses roll.
The best I could manage was a 5.64
My times for the day were
5.99
5.88
5.87
5.76
5.76
5.64
I think running a brand new set of tyres was a mistake, they were dead greasy in the morning and despite my best efforts they didn't get a lot better Spinning up the tyres certainly wasn't a problem unfortunately!
Pretty gutted that its slower than it was last year, but nevermind, I'll have to postpone membership to the sub 5 club till next year

Any more info on the spec of your nova? I too have a 1.6 8v and am currently running 160bhp and 132lb/ft torque. Send me a u2u incase Oli gets upset at the post hi-jacking (sorry Oli)
