healthy but about 20bhp short of what is expected, torque is about 20lbft more than expected.

they are not 284 cams

The SBD 284 & SBD278 cams have been designed give about 15 -20 BHP* over standard cams, without compromising the drivability of the standard engine, they produce a power band of 2500 - 7500 RPM

the peak torque is in the right rev area, just seems to tail off very quickly at high RPM's

Raises a few questions....

Is the std trigger wheel up to it
Are the injectors coping (sure they wont be maxed out, as that would have been obv). I know the spray pattern from LET injectors isnt ideal for high reving NA setups
Is it just down to being a tight as a nuns arse?

could just need "broken in" for want of a better word? Plus given the state of tune I would of though that the "breaking in" process would be lengthier.

Just dont break it whilst your breaking it in

This setup should on full song at 7500rpm..... not peaking at 6000-6500rpm

had a smililar problem when i had tb'd 1.6 made lower than expected figures after it was first built up, took it back a thousand miles later and was making proper figures

a thousand miles will take me about 6 years

All the maps are vaguely similar (3 plots above)

The 2nd map felt like an absalute donkey on track.... HUGE hole in power coming out of corners in 3rd at about 3k rpm (i was taking it easy, hence not in 2nd at 5krpm or something

I've emailed WP asking for thoughts, and emailed Steve Broughton as he always seems to give some advice, regardless of how daft my Q's are.

Need to get it road legal to get some miles on it

It'll weigh about 850kg i think

have you driven it? whats the power delivery like? peak power is low.... thought it would be another 1000rpm up on that!

id say it will need more mapping yet, if its a new engine they wouldnt have put much ignition thru it? you running a coil pack?

injectors, doubt they will be maxing out if they are let injectors.

trigger wheels, what you using as a trigger? crank or hall effect (dizzy)

ill let you off for not driving then, you using the crank sensor for trigger then, should be more than up to the job.

id be a bit wary about the peak power, but they could have pulled all the ignition out from the top end to save the engine as its new, can you look at the map? well not now but when you get back?

My guess is its down to cam timing or mapping.

when I fitted my cams recently I had a similar problem with peak power being low and wobbly tourque curve. after a bit more mapping and cam timing adjustments it was fine.

dont think a tight engine would cause it unless as broster said, the mapper decided to alter ign timing due to it being a newish engine.

I would set cams back to the manufacturers timing settings and give it another run and start from there.

and I never go by SBD's figures. they are bollocks IMO. I have never met anyone yet that has got 164 bhp from their 164 kit. Unless its fitted and mapped at SBD on their magic dyno.

Just guessing here. But surely having the power tailing off at high RPM could be due to poor flow, either a restriction in cylinder head (port sizes) or manifold/system. If these remain unchanged from previous specs, then obviously its not that.
Or cam timing with high RPM the window that the valves are open gets smaller and smaller so any non-optimal timing of the cams would show up more significantly at high rpm.

the exhaust manifold is the SBD specC... huge primaries
the head is a ported coscat
