I remember the summer he left us, I went to Cyprus on holiday. Some guy saw me wearing my Luton shirt and asked about Taylor as he was a Pompey fan. I said he'd definately play for England one day and will be a great player for them.

watch it again, its blatantly obvious he is trying to play the fella on the left wing in on goal. he just half slips as he kicks it.

TBF I'd love to know why he didnt scream LOVEJOY as he hit this.

Should be written into all players contracts that when they are about to leather the ball, that they shout this.

Disagee.

Much easier to connect your foot onto a ball when its bouncing and loop the ball over a keeper. Granted it was from a fair distance out and it took bottle to have to go from there, but set up 100 or so balls on the bounce like that and I bet you'd score from a good 50% of them.

Essiens however was much harder to hit. coming across his body etc. To get that much power, accuracy and swerve on the ball requires a great deal of technique. Try that shot 100 times and im betting that more fly into to the stand/hit the corner flag than fly in the top corner

Its a tricky one - does the fact that most of the 100 attempts to copy essien going into the crowd just show that it was just one of those shots which is pure luck.

Personally I do think essiens was better as it was just sooo perfect and with the game going as it was. If you look at the replay 6" further in and leymann would have got it but with the swerve it had it was impossible.

Volley is harder to hit than a rolling ball. How many Essien-esqe goals have there been? Bloody loads. Lampard alone has scored plenty like that. Tugay's volley was better than Essiens shot.

Mabye more Essien-esqe goals have been scored as its rare that a player has the balls to hit a shot from that far out. Im not saying it was a fluke, as im no doubt he meant to shoot. Taylors was a speculative effort, and fair play to him having a go, but technique wise I wouldnt say it was as good as Essiens.

Thats just my opinion, footie is a game of opinions which is what makes it so good
