tbh i have cliped a cars front bumper when going into one of our booths and also whilst driving a 7 series onto a pillar lift but thankfully they were just small minor scratches that i just had to repair but that is a mess!

i wouldnt let the garage fix it but i would take it away and find a bloody good bodyshop that will repair it to 100% how it was and then give the garage a nice big bill!

A lad I worked with reversed a bmw estate into a transit van. Easy to do reversing, but driving forwards, not so easy

ive damaged cars at work but not on the road. but its not always under your control .. ie some1 could pull out on you.
but i have seen other garages where some1 has gone out for a test drive and they crashed the customers car. a good 1 was a mr2 that the mechanic lost the back end went up the kerb sideways and went throught a fence .. made abit of a mess lol

Id have gone down there with the police and made everyone aware just what the fuck was going on. Theres no reason for that to have left the garage in the first place?

yes there is.

it had a wheel bearing, it needed to be tested on the road so they could be sure the bearing was fitted right.

and it could have happened in their yard...

we have to take just about any car on a test run . check for knocks etc . before and after a job. some customers are a pain in the arse and want a bullet. try to make out ever since we have touched there car it knocks etc . that way they dont have to pay for it. a good 1 was we did a cambelt kit on a zafira .. 2 weeks later his gearbox blew up . he tried blameing us from when we did his cambelt .. theres the door sir

If you work in a garage you see stuff like this fairly often tbh.

I used to work at a Vauxhall dealership and saw:

* One of the mechanics damage an arch on 888 Astra because it was that low on the ramps.
* One of the mechanics start our MDs car, which was in 3rd gear and went in to one of the 4 poster lifts.

Also when I was at Halfords the garage was notorious for doing stuff.
* Melting most of the wiring loom on a Calibra.
* A 4x4 falling off the ramps!
* Young mechanic writing off his mates Impreza.

Happy days!

I remember reading about a garage crashing someone's VXR220 and writting it off after all had been sold - one irreplacable limited edition car lost forever due to some spanner monkey taking it out for a bit of fun

ah well, no big loss. at least some lucky buggers got a nice donor for his kit car. riminds me of the time i was on the lookout for a snegga for my 2b. seen some guy in the garage and asked him when he was planning on scrapping it and if he would ring me as i wanted it as a donor car, the guy saw red, i think it was his pride and joy.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
