Naaa, just do a "tax in post" disc - if police stopped you they'd be able to do a check and find out it has been paid and sent!

But is it not an offence to not display you're tax disc?

Yes look, Vauxhall wouldn't allow us to drive the car away without a tax disc anyway you gays.

Its ok, Rach gets the Vaux insurance to tax and drive the car away, then when home swap it back to Diamond, its fairly common thing to happen, girl I sit opposite at work had to do the same with her 307 when she got it from Peugeot.

Yeah they do but there is a warning on your Tax Disc form stating that you must do it 14 days in advance if you do it online so the Disc reaches you. Gues they are just trying to cover your arse incase yours expires and you haven't yet recieved the new one.

you dont get charged for not having tax, the charge is not displaying the tax disc.

i had mine wedged in behind the windscreen and the dash and the police couldnt see it. they then took me into the back of there car and gave me the big story about tax disc's

another hour of my life wasted

TBH, I don't see the point in having to display it now its all computerised. You don't have to display your MOT certificate do you?

How fcuking ridiculous, Vauxhall were giving Rachel the 7 day trial insurance for the Astra VXR, that was fine, then they asked her if it was modified and she said its got the option extra 19's and they said they can't insure her!!! WTF!!!!! They are Vauxhall option extras, FFS this is a fcuking joke it really is, we want the car, we want to pay for it tomorrow and take it away there and then why are there always barriers put up? Only way round this is if Rachels mum insures herself on it for a couple of hours just to get the tax, then switch it to Diamond the moment we leave the garage!! Such horse sh1t it really is.

WTF Since when did optional wheels become classed as a modification?

Must be thousands of people that aren't covered in the event of an accident then.

Just to let you know that you can't use EVL (online tax) if you have recently modified insurance or MOT details.

Also the car won't yet be registered in your name so the disc won't have an address to be sent to.

If Rachel wasn't clued up on the car should we have just said it was a standard Vauxhal Astra VXR, she wouldn't know the difference between the 18's and 19's .

Why is buy a car so stressful.

I had this argument with a muppet at Zurich when explaining to them my car came with the exterior pack straight from Vauxhall...

He starting questioning what it was...so naturally I explained it has 18" wheels...sideskirts...lower bumper etc etc...next minute he was asking right so u have modified your vehicle?? I said NO...thats a factory fit option...he wouldnt have it...anyway I was referred to the underwriters who rang me back and said ignore the thick muppet we know its an option...and there no change to your premium

Also I was allowed to drive my car away from Vauxhall without having to prove insurance etc...

This may have something to do with my Dad being mates with the general manager though who I dealt with...

Trouble is, if it was me on the phone to the insurance company I would have argued it with them and told them that unless you insure us on this car the dealer will loose a £16500 cash sale tomorrow, and I am sure they would have insured me or her or whatever. Rach isn't in the telephone game, I know how to play these bastards.
