I'm a Civil & Structural CAD Technician!

Still got alot to learn but the new company were very keen and willing to teach me anything to help me progress my career. Not like where I am now!

This is exactly my problem, my current company wont pay me more so I put my cv out to a few places and have 3 call backs.
When I told one agency how much my current salary was they actually laughed at me cos they thought I was joking.
Im gonna feel really bad if I get offered because it will leave my current company in the lurch but they done seem that bothered about me being here and i dont even have a bloody contract

I'm waiting for confirmation before I hand my notice in. My current boss is really weird, proper eccentric (sp). Will probably tell me just to leave there and then

i am in similar posision, running an architects office, doing all drawings etc and im only 22 with lots to learn. just done a block of 6 flats, never done flats before so was very steep learning curve.

i have been here a year and after 6 months i got a £3250 pay rise.

I think i deserve another £4000 payrise for the work i am doing and now i have been here a year.

dont like confrontation, and can get on the net when not busy etc etc, so isnt to bad in that respect but working conditions are crap.
dirty office no microwave or fridge. boss gives no benefits or thanks

went to see a flat yesterday so now need to ask for a payrise

not sure what will happen

I totally agree with you Matty, hence why if i get offerec one of these jobs out of the three interviews ill be handing my notice in at my weekly friday meeting and saying 'Thanks for everything but ive got a new job and ill be leaving at 5.30 today'

All the hard work ive done and all the extra hours are definately not appreciated, the pay is crap and id get a 4k payrise plus benefits and chance of progression going to any one of these 3 jobs on offer.

Nice one Matt

Just write a letter now to your boss telling him you have been offered a job elsewhere with a better salary/package. Tell him you will work a weeks notice or whatever your due etc & sign it, leave it on his desk.

When he comes to ask you about it, tell him you have been ofered a lil bit more than you actually have, say £6k, see what he says, could work doube time to your advantage. Unless that is your all set on leaving.

Most companies write into your contract that if they've sent you on any kind of training you have to stay there for a certain period afterwards...if they've not done that then more fool them i suppose.

I am set on leaving. Whatever he offers me here in the short term it will never match what I can get in the long term with the other company so its worth the move IMO. The other office is about 4 times the size of where I am now, is all purpose built (2 years old) private car park plus other benefits. I don't get ANY benefits here and my boss is a grumpy cunt that couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery!

I'm not going to get anywhere if I stay here so best I move on

I dont even have a current contract, it ran ages ago so there isn't anything he can do.

I could leave tomorrow if I wanted but thought I'd give him a months notice. Like I said earlier I wouldn't put it past him to just tell me to go now. Would be nice having a few weeks off

My company made that mistake. I got some fork lift truck licenses before Christmas, and normally they don't release our licenses til 3-6 months after completing the course. But the first day back after Christmas I got my license

It was them that advised me to give a months notice! I've told them I would like to start with them at the beginning of March. Should make things a bit easier with wages etc. see what they say

Came in this morning at half 8 and handed him my notice.

Think I caught him off guard as he was a bit speechless

Just said he was disappointed and asked where I was going but I said I would rather not say. He said is there anyway that I will stay but I said no as I want to move on and try working somewhere else. And that was that really
