You're right, according to the figures, they're quicker.

is that from experience disturbed? or from reading websites? because I have witnessed first hand a 172 cup beating a ctr in a straight line, and on youtube there is a video of a 172 killing a ctr.

its not a standard 172 then....I know they wont keep up with a type r because i've "raced" both type-rs and 172's on a few occasions

Unfortunately I can't afford a new one
I'll have about 4.5k though, so I'll get a decent one hopefully.

well no offence dude, but you could of beat both in a very quick car, but you would never know what each car was like against each other in comparison.

wouldnt say very quick, but beat the type-r and the 172 "seems" a lot easier to pull away from, however that could be down to the sort of people that drive them?

thats what I'm saying mate. It may be down to different drivers. CTR's have more power, but less torque. All the vids I've watched (and my mate in a 172 cup against a CTR) have resulted in the clio winning

I did have, a year ago, since then though, I've had a Nova 1.3SR, Corsa 1.4 SRi, Corsa C 1.4 and a Mini turbo (which never ran)
This is why I dislike the Corsa C, as I miss being able to overtake.
