Yes, what ever the speed, half it and multiply by 100.

70mph = 3500rpm

60 = 3000rpm which is much more comfortable than 70.

Hence why a 1.2 16v would be much better.

All 1.2 16v's are the same. The marketing ploy of the SXi was that it had SRi styling, without the performance, for younger drivers.

Yea i wish my 1l 12v was a 16v, it's revs high quite alot, it also under revs easily. The acceleration in 4th-5th gear is next to none really.

The 1.2 16v will be quicker of course compared to the 1.2 8v. Not sure if you feel it that much though. I guess you would.

I like the 1.2 16v, where as the 1.2 8v is horrible to drive. Being on a hill in an 8v is definately not something I want to experience again

8v Vauxhalls are well know for reliablity.

The newer 1.2 16v sxi are 79-80bhp.

I would just get the 1.4 sri 8v as there pretty decent and still cheap on insurance.

I would see the difference with insurance with the 1.2 8v and the 1.2 16v as its not really worth paying the extra insurance for a car your probably only going to keep for a short wile.

8v seems to produce less bhp but more torque.

I had a 1.2 8v for about 6 months as my first car...

0 - 60 was about 24 seconds

Pow had a 1.2 16v and was noticeably quicker.

I moved onto a 1.4 8v C2 which is damn nippy for the engine size (probably cos it ways as much as a chiwowa's turd)

On personal experience i think the 1.2 16v is worth any extra money....and if you can afford the 1.4 do it !

Pretty much all the corsas (bar the dervs) have the same ratio for 5th gear - they all sit at around 4k rpm @ 80, be it a 1.0 12v, or 1.8 in my experience.

Interestingly enough, I've found that the 1.0 is quieter on the motorway @ 80 than anything else - Do some digging on engine balancing and you'll find out why .

My 1.2 16v is quieter at 80 than 70 despite the extra revs.

Hammered it over to Ipswich from Bedford in it yesterday too - tried to stick to 90 bananas per hour where I could on the dual carriageways and it coped perfectly well. Just stick the stereo up a bit

Would have hated having to do that in my old 12v
