does it turn over well?
Tried by hand, and it doesn't turn over at all, just sounds like it's hitting something
About the head, can you get hold of a C16XE head?
And do you offer head work?

Also worth investing in some nice SBD rollers and GM tensioners.
I bent 4 valves on mine when i rebuilt the head... i miss timed it by i few teeth!
PS... if you need to borrow my cam locking tool then let me know and ill post it to you.
Trust me its worth having one if you havent got one!
Rob
Will be purchasing SBD rollers, cams & veriners before being built up.
As for the Cam locking tool, my mate is doing the work and has all the necessary tools, thanks anyway, appreciate that.
What is needed for re-building a head? new valves stem seals, skimming? What else?
Are new valves, valve springs etc necessary?

Erm. Took the head off, and There was a bolt sitting on top of pistion no.3
So nothing has gone wrong with it, just a bolt has got in there some how.
Now, I have damage to pistion no.3, thread marks and dents all in it and on the head, do I need to replace the pistion?
If so, Do I replace 1 or all 4?
I'd like to know where this bolt has come from

I'd think if you replaced the one, you'd need to change the rings on the others too. Don't bet on that though.

Yes but I can't get them onto the laptop. Just had a look at my head, head is scrap, two bent valves. £193 for ONE pistion too. Happy days.

£193 per piston?
You could get nice light forged ones for what 3 would cost you.

need some pics of this mate!
things I would check it wether the bores are damaged at all. if so then its new block time as well. I would just get a 2nd hand piston and reuse the rings if they are ok.
as for a head, I have a freshly rebuilt C16XE head that has been ported and polished and has had:
New valves
New Guides
New stem seals
New followers
Freshly skimmed and pressure tested
U2U me if you want it. Im sure someone on here will have a spare piston, maybe Broster?

Yup per pistion! Bloody rip off. I thought forged pistions would be less than that

Will get Pics up Monday if my brother comes round with the camera.
I did have a quick look at the bore, and it looks fine. No unplesent grinding noises when being turned over.
As for the head, I've already sourced one a few days back.
Am I right in thinking the C16xe doesn't use a EGR valve? if so, do I need a C16xe lower inlet manifold?

So just leave the EGR in place, but don't connect it up? or get a proper blanking plate?
Pistion damage is quite bad, the grooves on the pistion in the shape of half a valve has all been dis-shaped.

You have no luck with this do you mate!!I think the piston should be ok but to be sure it would need to be compression tested. If im wrong im sure someone will rip me to shreds!!
