Interested in these as the house I am moving to has these same types of buildings on the estate.
Is it freehold? And if so do the people who own the other garages pay ground rent to you?

These are commonly called coach houses....quite common around here, basically they make good use of the land available.
very unlikey to be freehold....

Mad set-up but also good considering you have no wall-to-wall neighbours and you live in a flat
Must be mad ownership with the garages, be good to buy them off your neighbours one day and convert (don't know if that'd be possible?)

We're thinking about buying a new build as our first house. What are the advantages/disadvantages in peoples opinions?

advantages - warranty, energy efficient, blank canvas etc etc
Disadvantages - cost more, seem to be getting smaller

Been looking at one of these which is a bit bigger than most 3 beds round by me and about £10k cheaper. About the same commute as now but just in the opposite direction.

it'll be worth it in the end, they always take longer than they say, lets just hope next door don't have a v8 TVR they want to put in the garage under you, that they leave ticking over at 6:30am in a morning!
have you picked tiles and kitchen stuff yet
