Do you think £6.7million for Pennant represented good business? I'm not having a dig, just asking you as a 'pool fan.

Think Bale was £5million, plus another £5million depending on Spurs success. So £5million.

english talen overrated and over priced
typical arsenal fan
coming from a Utd fan who have had to spend over £30m each to buy two english players. And £18m each on two others (one of which doesnt even get into the team!).
[Edited on 06-06-2007 by Cosmo]
overpriced yes, overrated no
in all honesty i would prefer to spend millions on a team made up of british talent, than save and have a squad of foreigners (i know this isnt possible for most clubs)

Does it really matter that much? CLubs do what is best for them. Not whats best for international teams. IMO.

No Ribery then...
Bayern Munich expect to complete the signing of Marseille star Franck Ribery on Thursday.
The clubs are believed to have agreed a €25million (£17million) deal for the France international, which would make Ribery the most expensive player in Bayern's history.
"We just have a few details to settle, but the deal should be made on Wednesday," Marseille chairman Pape Diouf told L'Equipe.
"Ribery will leave for Munich on Thursday to have his medical and sign the contract. Bayern have always acted in a perfectly fair way since they declared their interest.
"When the player agreed to go to Bayern and our financial conditions were accepted, it was out of the question to imagine him going to any other club."
Ribery is expected to agree a four-year deal.

I don't think Arsenal really need to buy that many. IMO 1 more defender and a decent winger would do the job.
Remember that for virtually half the season they did not have their front line available. With Henry/VP back, Adabayour to back them up then we can be back up challenging. You only had to look at how many of their games to see they create the chances, all they need to do is finish 1/10th of them and they would have won another 6/7 games last season ~20 points which it back up at the top. Stop those last minute silly goals that cost another 2/3 games.
The performances against the top teams showed the team have the quality they just have to pull their finger out against the lesser teams
