I paid £30 quid for a gearbox and £50 for a clutch for the Corsa/Nova GTF

good little cars,

trouble is mate you probely brought it of some boy racer like i had next to me yestaday. Poppin it off the limiter and spinning it up from every set of lights trying to get me to race.

I had 3 gearboxes in my saxo lucky for me all 3 boxes were free and to be fair they are piss easy to fit

Luckily mine had a new gearbox fitted under warrenty at 40k

that is pretty shocking really, glad I never paid 10 grand for one new

yes gearbox is a known weak point in the saxo and 106, like any car you have a good and bad examples. Never had gearbox problem on my VTS just had worse running problems which cost a lot of money and took a lot of time.

My corsa sport 1.4 16v was no better , head gasket anyone?, engine management light constantly on?, corsas have there fair share of problems mainly on the 16v engines

Corsa's aren't greatly known for rusting anymore than other cars from the same time?

Must be getting Corsa's & Nova's mixed up....

To be honest vauxhalls are generally known for rusting. My mate had to take his newish astra to vauxhall just before the warranty ran out (3 years old) to sort some rust spots!
