would've thought mine would hit 100 if it was going to. had a full service recently and its had 3 bottles of injector cleaner through it (so should be spotless)

and tbh i can't see reddex will make a 10mph difference, but may have to try one day.

yea the 8v engines are bombproof, was reading this at work so i decided to give mine a rag on the way home.

and shockingly it was still goin past 70 in 3rd gear (when i decided it was gettin silly).

lol 70 in 3rd gear thats pretty good! I used to rag the shit out of my 1.1 106 and I had 25mph in 1st!

My Corsa Sport only goes a bit more than that!

yeah mine probably would made 80 if there wasn't a car in front.

thing i can never understand though, is if you can hit 80 in 3rd then why is the top speed still only 90. 'cus common sense make me think that it'll pass 90 in 4th with out hitting the rev limiter. the engine never seams to be struggling.

Down hill yes.

The other big thing people are forgetting here is speedos (corsa ones more so) always over-read your speed, The ones in my old 8v used to be about 10% over on standard wheels.

At 110mph on your speedo you're only really going at about 100mph. This is a big reason as you why you can go faster than the vauxhall listed top speed - most of the time you really arent!

i find it very hard to bellieve a 1.2 8v with a whole 45 horsepower can do 115mph on GPS on the flat.

My old 60bhp 1.4 8v wouldnt have had any hope of that and i'm sure my 100bhp CDTI would be starting to struggle come 115.

What gets me is - if people on the net realise our speedo's are all out, then surely vauxhall realise this, thus doing something about it?

I don't think the later corsa's speedo's will be out due to electrical dials.

My speedo reads about 1mph more than the sat nav and it has electric clocks and 15's.

yea true, old cars speed clocks do exaggerate quite a bit...

According to Parkers.. my bro's 1.2 8v Clio said that it can do 100mph top speed - he reckons that he had 115mph down the motorway....?!

I find it the opposite, iv been beaten by a 1.0l metro, a 1.1 106, 1.3 saxo, maybe mine just has something wrong with it

Thats because the 1.2 and 1.4 8v (excluding the SRi C14SE) corsa engines are crap. 45bhp and 60bhp is all they have.

A metro 1.1 8v (from around the same age, a 1993) managed 60bhp, which vauxhall needed an extra 300cc to get. This is why a metro 1.1 would probabaly beat a 1.4 8v corsa. Same power but the metro would be lighter.
