I think people need to be a parent before they can fully comment.
I sympathesise with your current girlfriend though, i understand fully what you yourself are saying but in your girlfriends eyes that sounds really bad and i can see why shes upset.
I dont see how you could have worded it better though, its one of those things were its better that nothing is said imo.
your gfriend appears to be jealous and a little insecure over the whole thing which is perfectly understandable, the comments you have made have only heightened that insecurity.

Love is a strong word though, do you love your ex really? Or just care for her. I dont think you do love her, you just care about her strongly because shes the mother of your daughter.

agree with butler, inappropriate use of the word "love", especially in your current girlfriends eyes.

TBH Butler, im 100% sure, I just care alot for her, so I assumed I kinda loved her if that makes sense.
As my girlfriend, shes very insecure, and this isn't helping

just tell her, due to the fact she cares and looks after your child that she is practically family. maybe worth you saying to your current gf that you see her as more like part of your family and care for her in the same way as you would another family member

Like a pet. You love your cat/dog..... You'd cry if anything happened to your pet.
Plus if you explain it to her like that she might smile.

Am I wrong?
I'd say you are wrong Monster, I wouldn't call it 'love' as such. She's the mother of your child and of course you'll care for her in as much as you wouldn't wish her any harm, and you'll respect her for being a good mum to your child.
I can see why your current g/f feels uneasy if you've implied in any way that you 'love' your ex for whatever reason

You love her like a sister? Sort of? If you get me?
I could say that about one of my ex's... we'll more like I love him like a brother...
And we don't have kids.

It's hard to explain. I love her as friend,, like everyone loves there very close friends. And becasue if it wasen't for her i wouldn't have my daughter or get to see her. CERTAINLY no feelings there what so ever.

Yeah I follow what your saying now...................................I think!!
If your g/f's uncomfortable with it, I'm sure if you take time to explain what you meant and reassure her she'll be fine with it

Id say you have a duty as a father to care for her welfare & have an interest in her life as it affects your daughter but you dont love her by any shape or form. Love is a funny word & souldnt be used lightly!!
Big massive line before care & love imo.

Simplify things then.
On a scale of 1 to 10. 10 being Charly. 4 being a pet hamster that you had when you was 10 years old. 8 being your car......
